Getting help with SETA Virtual Try-On

The try-on button is not on my product page

Three things have to be true, and they fail in this order:

  • Open the SETA app in your Shopify admin at least once.Installing it is not enough — your store's record is created the first time you open it, and until then the button reports that try-on is unavailable for your store.
  • Add the block to your product template from Online Store → Customize → Product, then save the theme. The app's home screen has a button that opens the editor at the right place.
  • Check the tag setting on the block. If you entered a tag under "Only show on products with this tag", the button appears only on products carrying it. Leave it empty to show try-on everywhere.

Shoppers see a message instead of the button

The button changes appearance rather than disappearing, and each state means something different:

  • Temporarily unavailable — SETA has paused try-on across all stores for maintenance. It returns on its own; nothing to do.
  • Busy — try again shortly— your plan's limit on simultaneous shoppers has been reached. It clears within minutes, and a larger plan raises the limit.
  • Try-on limit reached— that shopper has used their daily allowance on your store. You set this yourself under "try-ons per shopper per day".
  • Try-on unavailable — usually your store has run out of try-on time. Turn on extra usage, or move to a larger plan, from the app.

The try-on does not look like my garment

The reference the AI works from is one of your own product photos, chosen automatically. There is nothing to upload and nothing to set up per product: SETA reads the gallery of the product the shopper is standing on, starts from the image you featured, and weighs it against the first ten photos in that gallery. Another photo replaces the featured one only when it is clearly the better reference, so a deliberate choice of yours is never overridden on a hunch.

What the model wants is a photograph of the garment by itself. Results are consistently better when the gallery holds at least one image that is:

  • the garment alone — flat, on a hanger or on a ghost mannequin, with nobody wearing it
  • on a plain background, white or near-white, with no room, street or set behind it
  • the whole garment, uncropped and front-on, with sleeves and hem in frame
  • sharp and reasonably large — 512 pixels on the shorter side is the floor, and the photo is sent at 1080 pixels wide, so anything you would already publish on a product page is enough
  • free of collages, text overlays, watermarks and heavy filters, each of which the model reproduces as though it were part of the garment

You do not have to change the photo you sell with. Keep the styled shot as your featured image if that is what converts — just make sure a plain packshot sits somewhere in the first ten photos of the same product, and SETA will find it.

This is guidance rather than a requirement, and a better reference improves the odds rather than guaranteeing an outcome. A try-on is a generated approximation of your garment and never a photograph of it; what it does and does not represent is set out in the terms.

Billing

Every charge goes through Shopify and appears on your normal Shopify invoice. SETA never handles your card. You change or cancel your plan on Shopify's plan page, which the app opens for you; to stop paying, pick the free trial there.

A larger plan is charged the difference in price for the rest of your billing period and adds the same share of try-on time at once. A smaller plan or the free trial is not refunded by Shopify, so you keep the try-on time already granted for the period; the smaller allowance starts at your next renewal. Extra usage is charged only if you switch it on, and never past the monthly limit you set. Every change to your balance is listed under Usage history in the app.

On a development or review store, which Shopify does not charge for a plan, the app gives a reduced sandbox allowance and says so on the plan screen.

Removing SETA

Uninstalling from your Shopify admin stops try-on immediately and cancels any subscription. Your store's records are erased 48 hours later, when Shopify asks us to. Removing the block from your theme is optional but tidier.

Privacy

What SETA stores — and the rather short list of what it stores about shoppers — is set out in the privacy policy.
